RICHARD R. BOON

Induction Year: 1952 Played 9 Years

A fast, wiry defenceman, he weighed 120 pounds when he played for the Montreal AAA's senior club which won the Stanley Cup in 1902. He later played for the Montreal Wanderers and became their coach after retiring from active play; under his aegis, the Wanderers won three Stanley Cup's; he is credited with being the first man to use the poke check to steal the puck; he was elected in 1952.
